Old Fashioned made New Fashioned With Non Alcoholic Bourbon

It’s autumn, so our thoughts are turning to non alcoholic drinks that are hearty and spicy instead of refreshing and fruity. The Old Fashioned is the granddaddy of classic cold-weather cocktails. It’s usually associated with leather-backed chairs and southern lawyers. We’ve made it non alcoholic and spruced it up, making it a little bit more feminine by adding a secret ingredient. It’s one of the best non alcoholic Thanksgiving drinks to serve your family and friends (and maybe they won’t even realize there’s no alcohol!).

Non alcoholic bourbon or whiskey is a dupe that’s worth it

Starting with a non alcoholic bourbon or whiskey makes a great non alcoholic cocktail. Bottles of this type of non alcoholic spirit are easier to find than ever especially online. Some are labelled whiskey and some are labelled bourbon, and all of them have their own unique flavours. We’ve used Lyre’s American Malt in this recipe, but Free Spirits Bourbon Style or Ritual Whiskey Alternative are two other top brands that meet our taste standard in this category.

The earthy flavours of Earl Grey tea boost non alcoholic drinks

Instead of using a sugar cube or simple syrup, we’re adding a unique twist with Earl Grey tea and Earl Grey syrup. The Early Grey adds a smoky flavour that helps to elevate the non alcoholic bourbon even more. If you really want to go full smoky, you could swap the Earl Grey with Lapsang Souchong tea, but Earl Grey is a lot more accessible and affordable.

This is a stirred drink so you can either do it right in the glass or use a mixing glass if you have one. Let’s get mixing!
