Best Non-Alcoholic Gins (2026 Taste-tested & Reviewed)

A review of my favourite non alcoholic gin alternatives!

Looking for the best non-alcoholic gin? You’re not alone. All I wanted when I stopped drinking was either a glass of wine, a vodka coke or an ice cold gin and tonic. Lucky for me, there are dozens of alcohol free gins that have launched in the past few years, and even though it’s still a challenge to find something that hits like a good herbal gin, there are some winners that taste very similar to the real thing. This curated list features the best non-alcoholic gin alternatives I’ve found for all kinds of mocktails and non-alcoholic cocktails!

Even though this was the first category to really start to grow in the non-alcoholic space, and there are hundreds of brands available to consumers now, there are still only a handful of really good options.

How do they make non-alcoholic gin?

Anyone want to geek out on distilling and dealcoholization? No probably not - you’re just here for the reviews! But in a nutshell, there are three main approaches:

(1) start with a real spirit and remove alcohol via low-temperature vacuum distillation or membrane filtration which is effective but removes a lot of body and aroma,

(2) build from a neutral base (water/glycerin) with botanical distillates and aroma isolates—think gin berries, juniper, anise, clove/cinnamon spice - plus ginger/capsicum for “burn” or

(3) combine these methods for a double whammy - remove alcohol, then flavour compounding. This is becoming the most common method.

At the end of the day though, ethanol is a big flavor carrier, so body and finish are hard to replicate perfectly. However, traditional gin is so flavourful, herbal and potent that it does well in this process, which is why NA gin shines amongst all the other categories as closest in taste.

How I Taste Test

I try and be as rigorous as possible when comparing products, but also taking into account the unique characteristics of each. For gins, here’s how I tried them each:

  1. Straight/on the rocks

  2. In a gin and tonic with low sugar tonic water and .5 oz lime juice

  3. In a basic gin and ginger-ale mixed drink

So pip-pip! Let’s go and enjoy some non-alcoholic gin and see what we like, shall we?

Table of Contents

    1. The Free Spirits Company - Spirit of Gin

    Best for: Any gin-based mocktail

    Tasting notes:

No matter how many times we go back to this one, it's a world class option. It's probably the best gin out there in the non-alcoholic space. It works in every drink and really truly tastes like real gin. The nice thing about Free Spirits is that it has heat and flavor but still stays crisp and not overly sweet like some other bigger name brand gins (Tanqueray, we're looking at you!). It's also got B12 in it, so functional benefits along with the taste! It's our favourite gin for a non-alcoholic Negroni.

    2. Dhos Gin Free

Best for: Bright and crisp mocktails

    Tasting notes:

Dhos is a sleeper hit in this category. So under the radar, most people have never heard of it, but it’s a MUST for your bar. It’s very juniper forward, so it's perfect if you're looking for that typical clean London gin taste. It's also got a great burn to it, which is rare in some of the other zero proof spirits in this category. It's a great dupe of a real gin, perfect for a zero proof martini with vermouth and olive brine, or with lemon in bright crisp mocktails like Bee Knees, or in a French 75.

    3. ISH Gin

This is your Negroni option! The powerful heat and hint of sweetness in ISH non-alcoholic gin is a perfect companion to non-alcoholic vermouth and campari - or just in a simple gin and tonic mocktail. It’s made in Denmark and was actually one of the early products in this category. It’s still a great option for your bar cart with tonnes of herbal flavour and heat. It’s a little bit pungent which is so nice in a non-alcoholic gin option!

    4. Sobrii-0

This Canadian brand was the first non-alcoholic gin to launch in Canada in 2020 and it’s really really good. It’s full of herbal notes, perfectly balanced with a zippy heat to replicate traditional gin. The mouthfeel is absolutely elegant for a non-alcoholic drink and it mixes well with anything. Thinner, less bold n/a gins get lost in mocktails and you often need to double up, but not with Sobrii-0! Not available in the U.S. or U.K.

    5. Lyres London Dry Gin

This is the original non-alcoholic gin that took the world by storm and took on the global giant herbal-water brand called Seedlip (sorry, not sorry). It’s crisp and dry with the traditional London dry gin flavours. It works so well in a non-alcoholic gin and tonic, but my favourite with this bottle is a basic gin and tonic - it’s such a great flavour combo. It’s not that easy to find consistently anymore, but right now it’s at The Zero Proof for U.S. and it’s still around on Amazon for Australia and the U.K.!

    7. Amsterdam Damrak Virgin

    Best for: Non-alcoholic gin martini

    Tasting notes:

Drinking a sample of the Damrak really helped us to see the potential of the category from mid-sized distillers. The lemon zing in this non-alcoholic gin makes it unique, and a really great option to pair with vermouth. The citrus adds a nice flavour element, almost essential to a well rounded non-alcoholic gin. Add some olive brine to the martini, and definitely express some citrus zest over the glass and drop it in for another touch of bitter citrus.

Available through Passion Spirits in the U.S. for $29 (safer and more reliable shipping than Amazon!)

    8. Gordon’s Pink Gin

This is my absolute favourite specialty gin in the non-alcoholic category. Of course, I’m romanticizing it because the first time I had it, I was in London and sitting in front of a huge open window in a flat looking out onto an English garden at sunset. It was amazing. But back at home, I still reached for this bottle often until my two duty free bottles were done! This is not available in the U.S. or Canada but easy to find everywhere in the U.K. and I highly encourage seeking it out!

    9. RITUAL ZERO PROOF GIN

This is by far the easiest non-alcoholic gin to find across North America. It’s not the best on the list, but it passes and doesn’t taste like a watered down herbal infusion. It’s affordable and great in Paloma mocktails or Bees Knees. Lots of people love it and keep it stocked on their bar for that very reason - it just works in mocktails without any fuss! (and it’s only $29!).

    Non-Alcoholic Gin FAQs

What is non alcoholic gin and does it contain alcohol?

Most non alcoholic gin alternatives are spirit-free blends or dealcoholized products designed to deliver juniper, citrus, and botanical notes without intoxication. Many are 0.0% ABV; some are up to 0.5% ABV—similar to kombucha. Check each label.

How do they make non alcoholic gin?

Two common methods: remove alcohol from a real spirit using low-temperature (vacuum) distillation or filtration, or build flavors from a neutral base using botanical distillates/aroma isolates (juniper, citrus, coriander, spices), with acids/tannins for structure and gentle heat sources like ginger or capsicum.

Which non alcoholic gin is best for a G&T or martini?

Choose juniper-forward bottles with bright botanicals and clean dryness. Look for brands that hold up in tonic or cocktail mixers and don’t get watery. See the "Best for Cocktails" picks near the top of this page.

Why do some NA gins taste thin or overly sweet?

Removing ethanol reduces body and aroma carry, so some formulas add sweetness to round out edges. Serving slightly chilled over a large cube, and pairing with tonic or citrus, helps balance thinness in cocktails.

Does non-alcoholic gin burn like alcohol?

There’s no ethanol burn, but some products use ginger, pepper, or capsicum for a gentle warming finish. These cues work well in cocktails and are milder than the alcohol bite of traditional gin.

Can you drink non-alcoholic gin straight?

Yes — many alcohol-free gins can be sipped neat or on the rocks. Some botanical-forward brands work especially well for tasting neat, offering complex herbal flavors.

Does non-alcoholic gin taste like real gin?

Some brands come surprisingly close! While they lack the alcohol burn, top picks offer juniper-forward, herbal, and citrus notes that mimic traditional gin distilling.

Where can I buy non-alcoholic gin in the U.S. and Canada?

In the U.S., you’ll find lots of options on Amazon and at retailers like The Zero Proof and Boisson. Canadian shoppers can try Sobr Market, Dry Variety, or Well.ca. Always check if shipping is available to your region.

Is non-alcoholic gin good for mocktails?

Absolutely! These gin options are perfect for classic mocktails like a Gin & Tonic, Bee’s Knees, or a French 75. Look for ones with bright botanicals and a clean finish so they stand out with other ingredients.
