This isn’t your usual hot toddy, but rather a cozy non-alcoholic twist on a traditional gin-based foghorn cocktail. We’ve warmed it up and added a splash of heat from fresh ginger!

Ginger syrup is key

The key to this recipe is ginger syrup. It’s not as hard as you think to make a batch and it’s really good in other drinks and on food. My fail-safe recipe is to mix 1 cup of water and 1 cup of sugar on medium heat and stir until the sugar is dissolved and the liquid is gently simmering. Grate 1 tbsp of fresh ginger into the mix, reduce heat to medium-low and simmer for abou 5 minutes. Take off the heat and let it infuse and cool for about 30 minutes, then strain into a jar. This keeps in the fridge for one week, but then please toss it!

Ingredients

2 oz non-alcoholic gin

1 oz ginger syrup

Juice from half a lime

4 oz hot water

Splash of Reed’s Zero Sugar ginger beer

Preparing your non-alcoholic hot toddy

  1. Stir the non-alcoholic gin, ginger syrup and lime juice in the bottom of a mug.

  2. Pour in warm water and add a splash of ginger beer.

  3. Garnish with some crystallized ginger.
