Kava Lemon Drop Mocktail - A Buzzy Friday Night Bevvy

Easy three ingredient kava and lemon-flavoured mocktail plus a gentle buzz without alcohol

I drink kava about once a week on Fridays and it’s been a game changer! As a non-drinker, I was always waiting for my alcohol-free drinks to make me feel something, and this was it.

Kava is an excellent natural alternative for those looking to replace alcohol with a relaxing, non-intoxicating beverage.

With all the benefits of kava I was experiencing - reduced anxiety, a feeling of relaxation - I had to try and make some fun but sophisticated non-alcoholic drink recipes with it.

This Kava Lemon Drop Mocktail is the perfect alternative to an alcoholic lemon drop martini, and features a kava-based spirit, non-alcoholic limoncello, and seltzer for a simple but very sophisticated kava drink.

Why Make a Kava Mocktail?

Kava is a natural, plant-based alternative to alcohol, offering relaxation without intoxication. With no hangover, no impairment, and stress-relieving benefits, kava is a great way to unwind while staying mindful of your health. Drinking kava once a week can be a great way to incorporate relaxation into your routine while avoiding the negative effects of alcohol.

Maximum recommended daily dose is 250mg of kavalectones. We recommend half this dose only once or twice a week to stay safe.

Does Kava Give You a Buzz?

Kava does not produce a traditional alcoholic buzz, but it does offer a calming, euphoric effect. Many people report feeling more relaxed, sociable, and at ease after drinking kava, making it an excellent alternative for social settings.

Is Kava Kava illegal?

In the U.S. and Canada, kava kava is not illegal, but it is illegal in some other countries around the globe because of the risk of overuse and liver toxicity. If you can see kava powder on the shelf in your local health food store, it’s legal to buy and consume.

What is Kava Haven?

Kava Haven is a premium, ready-to-drink kava beverage designed for relaxation and stress relief. It contains a carefully measured amount of kavalactones, the active compounds in kava that promote calmness and a sense of well-being. Each 1.5 oz serving of Kava Haven contains approximately 100-120 mg of kavalactones, making it an ideal choice for those looking for a potent yet balanced kava experience without overconsumption.

Non-Alcoholic Limoncello

This was a total surprise, but there is in fact a non-alcoholic limoncello. It’s made by Pallini, the original maker of limoncello, and it’s a real treat. It tastes like sunshine but without the overwhelming burn from the alcohol in real limoncello. It’s divine! You can find the Pallini limoncello on Amazon.

Making a Kava Lemon Drop Martini Mocktail

This is the most basic mocktail - in fact, I invented this as part of my “too tired to make a mocktail” series on Instagram!

Ingredients:

  • 1.5 oz Kava Haven

  • 2 oz Pallini Limonzero

  • 3 oz seltzer

  • Ice

  • Lemon slice for garnish and extra zing

Preparation

  1. Give the Kava Haven bottle a quick rotation at a 45 degree angle to loosen up any kava sediment that has sunk to the bottom (normal!)

  2. Add the kava haven and limoncello to a glass and give it a quick stir.

  3. Add ice.

  4. Top it up with seltzer and garnish with a lemon slice.

Cheers and let me know in the comments if you’ve tried kava and how you like it!
