Peach Season: Frozen Peach Margarita Mocktail
/There is nothing more tasty than peaches, especially on a hot summer day in a frozen margarita mocktail!
Drinks with peaches in them are all the rage right now, especially margaritas, but what about mocktails? Can you make a peach margarita mocktail that satisfies? This mocktail recipe is from a company called We Are Raising The Bar, and it’s one of the tastiest, thirst-quenchers out there PLUS it’s literally as easy as pressing a button on your blender. Raising The Bar is a monthly subscription service, so they sent everything we needed to make this in their box last month, but you can easily make this alcohol-free margarita on your own following our recipe below.
Non-alcoholic tequila
The non-alcoholic tequila we’re using in this drink is Danny Trejo’s Trejos Spirits tequila alternative. If you don’t know who Danny Trejo is, just think bad guy actor in Desparado, From Dusk Til Dawn and other classics. As a retired actor, he’s known for his work in the community, and his taco restaurant among other business ventures. Lately, he’s entered into the non-alcoholic spirits category with a non-alcoholic tequila.
How does Trejos tequila alternative taste?
This tequila alternative is unique and we really love it. The aroma is very grassy and smoky, a hint of old sock which is definitely a hallmark of reposado tequila. The taste is so interesting, with a little bit of heat, a hint of grassiness, lots of smoke and a slight sweetness to it. You could probably drink this on the rocks and you wouldn’t be turned off by it. It’s a great option to pair with peaches!
Using bottled or fresh ingredients?
Of course fresh is always better, but don’t let that stop you from making a mocktail. Using pre-packaged ingredients can speed up the process and make it more enjoyable to put together a tasty drink. This recipe calls for mostly premade ingredients, and it’s still really yummy. Raising The Bar sends them ALL in their recipe box, including the lime juice. The only thing you need to add is…ICE!
Here’s the lineup of ingredients:
2 oz peach nectar: Making peach nectar from scratch is labour intensive, so pick some pre-bottled nectar up from your localy grocery store; we used Goya in this recipe, but there are lots of other options out there
2 oz Trejos tequila alternative: With non-alcoholic tequila, you need to add a little bit more than a regular recipe would call for. In this recipe, start with 2 oz but you can always add 0.5-1.0 oz more than this to taste.
1 oz lime juice: Fresh is best, but if you need to use it from concentrate, that will be totally fine.
IMPROV Margarita mixer: This is the ingredient that was in the Raising The Bar recipe box, and it was incredible as a mixer! It really added a zing to the recipe. If you can’t find it near you, you can always use 150ml of any lime seltzer and a pinch of salt as a replacement.
Tajin for the rim: This adds a spicy bite to each sip, so it’s highly recommended that you have this on-hand for the rim (plus some lime juice to help it stick).
Ice: no explanation needed - about 2 small scoops of ice per drink!
TOOLS:
Blender
Ice scoop
Knife, for sliced peach garnish
INSTRUCTIONS:
Preparing the ingredients: add all the ingredients to a blender, and then add about two scoops of ice
Blend on high until creamy
Rim a glass with lime juice and shake on some tajin.
Pour peach mixture into the glass.
Garnish with a peach slice and enjoy!
Tip for the blender: Add minimal ice at the start, and then keep adding as needed while blending until the consistency is what you want. If you add too much ice, it really does get too watery and the tequila loses its ability to stand out and add heat.
