Blueberry Ginger Sour with Tenneyson Black Ginger

A rose by any other name: what does a non-alcoholic cocktail need to be anyway?

Making a non-alcoholic cocktail doesn’t always mean it needs to replicate an existing cocktail or a particular alcoholic spirit. Of course there are lots of dupes available for gin, whiskey, and rum, but what about making a drink that stands on its own? As we move further ahead in the non-alcoholic space, innovating with flavour and technique, there’s a new way to experiencing ‘drinking’ with options that are new and different to our palettes. There’s a psychological or mindful aspect to this as well. Once you’ve mentally moved away from the effects of a full-proof cocktail, your mind opens to new experiences.

Introducing Tenneyson Black Ginger Non-Alcoholic Spirit

Tenneyson Black Ginger, finally available in both the U.S AND Canada through The Sobr Market ($60) (, is one of these new innovations to stand on its own as a new drinking experience. As you can guess, it’s a ginger-heavy elixir with a nice bitter heat that works really well in mixed drinks. Where some spirits without alcohol in them can get lost in a cocktail dupe, it’s nice to find something that stands out. You can almost drink Tenneyson Black Ginger on the rocks, but it’s also nice with some sparkling water or sparkling wine for a spicy spritz.

Using Tenneyson in a mocktail

This non-alcoholic cocktail recipe marries the ginger heat from Tenneyson with blueberry and lemon for an elegant sour. It’s a slightly more complicated recipe than simpler mocktails but worth the extra effort!
