It's 5:30 p.m., do you know where your wine glass is?

It’s back to school time again, and let’s be honest, no-one actually knows how long we’ll be “back” at school. After living in limbo since April here in Canada, many of us are expecting a rude awakening when we hear the school bell ring at 8:15 a.m.
This week, you may feel like you JUST NEED ONE GLASS OF WINE to get you through everything. We hear you but girl, don’t do it….
We won’t go through the list of all the reasons drinking doesn’t help. Instead, here’s how to feel GOOD about how you’re handling the stress and anxiety that you might be expecting. Mindful Drinking is a way to be mindful about how and why you’re choosing to mindLESSly grab that glass of wine. If you’re interested in rethinking your habits, give this a try.
First, ask yourself in that moment if that’s actually what you need, or do you need to lie down and rest for a few minutes. Ok, that’s NOT actually reality at 5:30 p.m. So….what can you do??
Five strategies to incorporate mindful drinking into your busy evening routine:
Phone a friend (not an ex) while you’re chopping veggies
Open a window (NOT the fridge) and take deep mindful breaths for a few minutes to clear your head
Put on some LOUD music - we’ve rebooted Rage Against The Machine and religiously wish we were back in a mosh pit for a few minutes.
Check on your stock options - no seriously. Take 20 minutes and check in on something that you need to concentrate on. The urge will pass and you will feel a little more in control.
Be sexy AF - find an alcohol-free drink and get it in your hand, pronto! There are so many options for great non-alc beers, spirits and sparkling wine. Just get something in your hand!
