Best Non-Alcoholic Gins in Canada (Taste-tested & Reviewed for 2026)

A review of my favourite non alcoholic gin alternatives available in Canada

Looking for the best non-alcoholic gin in Canada? You’re not alone. It’s one of the most popular zero proof spirits for people new to mindful drinking. As a sober sommelier, I’ve been taste testing and writing about non-alcoholic drinks for six years and have tried over one hundred types of zero proof gin. Even though it’s still a challenge to find something that hits like a real gin, there are some winners that taste very similar to the real thing. This curated list features the best non-alcoholic gin alternatives I’ve found for all kinds of mocktails and non-alcoholic cocktails.

How I Taste Test

I try and be as rigorous as possible when comparing products, but also taking into account the unique characteristics of each. For gins, here’s the criteria I tested them on:

  1. Drinkability straight/on the rocks

  2. In a gin and tonic with low sugar tonic water and .5 oz lime juice

  3. In a basic gin and ginger-ale mixed drink

So pip-pip! Let’s go and enjoy some non-alcoholic gin and see what we like, shall we?

Table of Contents

    1. The Free Spirits Company - Spirit of Gin (U.S.)

    Best for: Any gin-based mocktail

    Tasting notes:

No matter how many times I go back to this one, it's a world class option. It's probably the best gin out there in the non-alcoholic space. It works in every drink and really truly tastes like real gin. The nice thing about Free Spirits is that it has heat and flavor but still stays crisp and not overly sweet like some other bigger name brand gins. It's also got B12 in it, so there are functional benefits along with the taste! It's my favourite gin for a non-alcoholic Negroni.

    2. Sobrii 0-Gin (Canada)

Best for: A classic gin & tonic

This Canadian brand was the first non-alcoholic gin to launch in Canada in 2020 and it’s really really good, and incredible value at only $35 Cdn. It’s full of the right gin-style herbal notes, perfectly balanced with a zippy heat to replicate traditional gin. The mouthfeel is hefty and elegant for a non-alcoholic spirit, and it mixes well with anything. Thinner, less bold n/a gins get lost in mocktails and you often need to double up, but not with Sobrii 0-Gin. Not available in the U.S. or U.K.

    3. Dhos Gin Free (Denmark)

Best for: Bright and crisp mocktails

    Tasting notes:

Dhos is a sleeper hit in this category and it’s just recently landed in Canada. It’s so under the radar, most people have never heard of it, but it’s a MUST for your bar. It’s very juniper forward, so it's perfect if you're looking for that typical clean London gin taste. It's also got a great burn to it, which is rare in some of the other zero proof spirits in this category. It's a great dupe of a real gin, perfect for a zero proof martini with vermouth and olive brine, or with lemon in bright crisp mocktails like Bee Knees, or in a French 75.

Available through Sobr Market. No promo code available.

    4. Gordon’s 0.0 Pink Gin (UK)

Best for: gin & tonic with a summer twist

This is my absolute favourite specialty gin in the non-alcoholic category. Of course, I’m romanticizing it because the first time I had it, I was in London and sitting in front of a huge open window in a flat looking out onto an English garden at sunset. It was amazing. But back at home, I still reach for this bottle often. It has a nice herbal flavour, a light sweetness with just a hint of raspberry. This is easy to find everywhere in the U.K. and now it’s easy to get also in Canada via Upside Drinks ($45).

    5. Tanqueray 0.0 (UK)

    Best big brand option

This is a dupe of the full ABV Tanqueray and it’s one of those rare zero proof spirits that’s NOT available in the U.S but fully available in Canada (like many of the big global gin brands made in the UK). and if you love Tanqueray gin because of its flavour profile, you will enjoy the zero proof (0.0% ABV) version as well. It’s herbal with that classic Tanqueray sweetness and doesn’t taste like ‘herbal water’. The only downside is that there isn’t the right ‘heat’ to replicate the burn of alcohol, but it tastes really nice and is a great non-alcoholic gin to use in fruit-based mocktails like a Strawberry Gin Fizz.

    6. ISH Gin (Denmark)

This is your Negroni option! The powerful heat and hint of sweetness in ISH non-alcoholic gin is a perfect companion to non-alcoholic vermouth and campari - or just in a simple gin and tonic mocktail. It’s made in Denmark and was actually one of the early products in this category. It’s still a great option for your bar cart with tonnes of herbal flavour and heat. It’s a little bit pungent which is so nice in a non-alcoholic gin option!

    7. Monday Gin (U.S.)

Monday is a pretty good facsimile of real gin. It’s on the thin side, but it’s very juniper forward with oodles of citrus, like you’d expect from a proper London dry. There’s even a satisfying heat on the finish, which makes it feel like a real spirit. This would be a great option for a lighter, summery mocktail with muddled fruit and sparkling water (always use 2oz zero proof spirit in place of 1oz. full proof spirits in recipes).

    8. RITUAL ZERO PROOF GIN (U.S.)

This is by far the easiest non-alcoholic gin to find across North America. It’s not the best on the list, but it passes and doesn’t taste like a watered down herbal infusion. It’s the best affordable option in the U.S., but it does have a higher price point here in Canada because of importing fees. Even so, it’s great in standard gin cocktails, like a Greyhound mocktail or Bees Knees. Lots of people love it and keep it stocked on their bar for that very reason - it just works in mocktails without any fuss!

How do they make non-alcoholic gin?

Anyone want to geek out on distilling and dealcoholization? No probably not - you’re just here for the reviews! But in a nutshell, there are three main approaches:

    (1) start with a real spirit and remove alcohol via low-temperature vacuum distillation or membrane filtration which is effective but removes a lot of body and aroma,

    (2) build from a neutral base (water/glycerin) with botanical distillates and aroma isolates—think gin berries, juniper, anise, clove/cinnamon spice - plus ginger/capsicum for “burn” or

    (3) combine these methods for a double whammy - remove alcohol, then flavour compounding. This is becoming the most common method.

At the end of the day though, ethanol is a big flavor carrier, so body and finish are hard to replicate perfectly. However, traditional gin is so flavourful, herbal and potent that it does well in this process, which is why NA gin shines amongst all the other categories as closest in taste.
