Best Dealcoholized Wines Under $25 in Canada

A review of the best non-alcoholic wines under $25 in Canada (and some of the worst low-cost dealcoholized wines to avoid)

Even though the world of non-alcoholic wines has improved over the past few years, things like import duties, tariffs and shipping costs in a non-regulated industry have contributed to higher pricing on non-alcoholic wine in Canada. It’s become standard practice for the better quality non-alcoholic wines available here to cost upwards of $30 to $35, yikes!

That doesn’t mean there are no good wines at a reasonable price! Quite the opposite. These are the best options for dealcoholized wines under $25 in Canada that taste good and are friendly on the wallet when you’re in the mood for a dry night.

Best Non-alcoholic White Wines Under 25

1. Giesen 0% Sauvignon Blanc ($20)

This is one of the most popular non-alcoholic white wines, because it tastes so dang close to the real thing. I loved the nice balance of fruit and acidity and those grassy herbal notes that we all love to savour in our sauvi b wines. Compared to other white wines in the category, Giesen’s sauvignon blanc is dry versus cloyingly sweet or overly juicy like some. It’s refreshingly crisp, so if you’re sitting outside on a patio in the hot summer sun, this will be a great option.

Available at most online retailers.

2. Smoky Bay Chardonnay ($13)

This Australian-made non-alcoholic chardonnay has been one of my holy grail whites for almost five years. You’ll absolutely love the the buttery soft taste, well balanced with a hint of acidity and not a hint of ‘tropical fruit’ which I hate in over-blown non-alcoholic whites. It’s not overwhelmingly juicy and tastes like a California chardonnay in a way that no other non-alcoholic wine has done yet. It’s also perfectly mid-weight for a chardonnay with a nice smooth finish. Just perfect!

If you’re a chardonnay lover like me, you’ll welcome the familiar buttery but crisp profile of this German white. It has a really nice balance of flavors between fruit and citrus. Some non-alcoholic chardonnay wines are too heavy on the green apple notes, so it’s nice to have less of that in the Leitz chardonnay. It has a medium body so there’s some weight to it and it doesn’t feel thin or weak. The bright acidity and hint of minerality always leaves me wanting more! It’s just a lovely all around non-alcoholic chardonnay that tastes like a real wine.

4. Tarapaca Sauvignon Blanc (Ontario-only)

Tarapaca Sauvignon Blanc is one of those rare wines that is only available in Canada and nowhere else, so if you see a bottle - grab it! Tarapaca non-alcoholic sauvignon blanc is a light and refreshing dealcoholized wine from Chile. It’s very nicely balanced with notes of green apple and plum and hints of herbaceousness - I was looking for more grassy notes, but this was fine for a mid-level dealcoholized sauvignon blanc. Overall, it’s a pleasant option for a non-alcoholic white wine and for the price at $11 - it’s a steal!

Available at the LCBO across the province.

Best Non-alcoholic Red Wines Under 25

5. Divin 0.0% Origine Pinot Noir ($22)

This pinot noir from France is one of two pinot noirs from Divin - it’s part of their Origine collection of well-priced but high quality non-alcoholic wines. It’s fresh and fruity but has a really unique profile. Rather than the cloying dark cherry found in other non-alcoholic reds, Divin Pinot Noir leans into more tart red berries like cranberry and current with a little hint of field berry. It’s a great find for under $25 and pairs well with food.

6. Lautus Savvy Red ($24)

Lautus Savvy Red is another hidden gem amongst non alcoholic wines. It has a perfect balance of dryness and fruit making this an extremely well composed wine. You'll find blackberry, oak and a hint of black currant on the palette and gentle tannins. It’s a well-rounded and reasonably priced wine that doesn’t taste like cheap grape juice and sometimes that’s enough of a win.

Available through Dry Variety, Well.ca and more retailers. Get 15% off Lautus Savvy Red at Upside Drinks with code SOMEGOODCLEANFUN

7. St Regis Pinot Noir ($15)

St. Regis is exclusively Canadian and they released two new premium styles of non-alcoholic wine in 2024. The Pinot Noir is a favourite of mine because it’s quite dry but still has a very light flavor profile - strawberry, gooseberry and a hint of oak and smoke. It’s not as complex as many other non-alcoholic reds, but it’s a great value for the price and pairs well with food!

Available at select grocery stores across Canada, or order it here on Upside Drinks -> 15% OFF with code SOMEGOODCLEANFUN.

8. Leitz Zero Point Five Pinot Noir ($18)

Leitz Zero Point Five pinot is a mid-weight juicy dealcoholized wine from Germany that has been around for a long time. I have found that it’s consistently good regardless of vintage, with dark cherry fruit, light tannins and the right character for a German pinot noir. It’s slightly fruit-forward for me and I always wish it was a bit drier, but even friends who are regular wine drinkers say it delivers an authentic red wine experience. A great find under $25!

Best Non-alcoholic Sparkling Wines Under 25

9. Oddbird Blanc de Blanc ($25)

Oddbird Blanc de Blanc just makes it under the wire at $25, but despite being on this ‘bargain hunters’ list it’s still one of the best non-alcoholic sparkling wines in the world. It has the taste profile and structure of an early 2000s champagne, with a soft mousse and a crisp and dry palate. It’s delightful with food and without and great for entertaining. A holy grail find for me!

Available almost everywhere non-alcoholic wine is sold.

10. Leitz Sparkling Riesling ($19)

Leitz makes the best non-alcoholic riesling in the category, and it’s even better in the sparkling format. It’s off-dry with a bright lively acidity that carries through to the end. The mousse is crisp and playful and truly enhances the flavors in the bottle. Despite being under $20, it drinks like a much more expensive option! It ALSO comes in 250ml cans which is even more cost effective so you don’t have to open a whole bottle to get the Leitz experience!

Available through most non-alcoholic retailers in Canada. 15% OFF Leitz Riesling at Upside Drinks with code SOMEGOODCLEANFUN

11. Mionetto Alcohol-free Sparkling Wine (similar to Prosecco)

This is a zippy and bright dealcoholized bubbly, with loads of acidity and quite dry with a hint of sweetness. Despite the higher sugar, it doesn’t taste like sweetened, carbonated grape juice. There’s not a lot of complexity, but the acid backbone keeps it crisp and elegant, with notes of peach, apple and cranberry. There is literally nothing to complain about with this bubbly. It’s perfect on it’s own and would be dynamite in either a low-alcohol or no-alcohol spritz.

Available at LCBO in Ontario and Canadian Liquor Stores everywhere else.

Best Non-alcoholic Rosé Wines Under 25

12. Smoky Bay Rosé ($13)

This Australian brand has been an under the radar rosé for years! It’s slightly on the sweet side, but balanced with a little bit of dryness and a bright fresh acidity. Some non-alcoholic rosé wines are too sweet, but Smoky Bay finds just the right balance. I’ve enjoyed this one time and again and am never disappointed in opening a bottle on a spring afternoon.

NON-ALCOHOLIC WINES UNDER $25 TO AVOID

Most non-alcoholic wines at big box grocery stores will have grocery store pricing - you’ll think it’s a steal at $15 or under, but most of them are absolutely awful (with the exception of Giesen). Here are my worst offenders.

  1. Carl Jung - Carl Jung has been around for a long time, and they are very low quality. They are an industrialized product so they use bulk grape juice and then dealcoholize it. And then add lots of sugar and flavours back in. Doesn’t really taste like wine.

  2. Fre - This grocery-store brand is very popular in the U.S. because it’s part of the Sutter Homes family. It’s recently come to Canada but be warned. With the exception of their Chardonnay, if you’re drinking Fre you’re drinking a cup full of grape juice. Their red wine tastes like cooked grapes, and their rosé tastes like drinking a cup full of sugar. Their alcohol-free Chardonnay gets a pass because it’s oaky and buttery and although it’s full of sugar, kind of resembles a Chardonnay.

  3. VinZero or SinZero - please don’t be fooled by the branding; both are available on Amazon and they’re just short of tasting like kosher wine.

  4. Henkell - Big wine brands don’t always make the best dealcoholized options. I found the Henkell sparkling wines to taste overly sweet with no complexity or uniqueness. Not worth it!
