Mother's Day: Stunning Mocktail Mimosa Bar for Under $60
/One of the greatest gifts I’ve ever given myself as a mother, is choosing an alcohol-free lifestyle. It’s made me a better mother, a better partner and a better person all around. This Mother’s Day will be my fourth without the typical boozy mimosa to start the day but that doesn’t mean I still can’t have a mimosa.
There are great tasting non-alcoholic bubblies, and if you want to elevate it even more, swap out the regular orange juice for tropical fruit juice for a really special treat.
A Mocktail Mimosa Station
Setting up a mocktail mimosa station for entertaining on Mother’s Day is a great way to encourage a healthy start to the day. I pulled a tropical ‘No-mosa’ station together for an earlier celebration, and it was fast and easy but will wow your guests. The total cost of this endeavour was just under $60. At a time when many of us are worried about the grocery bill, this is a fun way to celebrate mom but not break the bank!
Non-alcoholic sparkling wine and prosecco
Two of my regular go-to bottles of non-alcoholic bubbly when I haven’t thought far enough ahead to order something online, is the St. Regis Brut or the St. Regis Secco. They’re both available at most grocery stores, and well priced at around $14. If you’re in the U.S., you can find both bottles at Total Wine at $13.
The Secco is crisp and off-dry sparkler with notes of green apple and a hint of floral. It pairs really well with traditional orange juice or other orchard fruit juice for a non-alcoholic mimosa.
The Brut is crisp and lemony, and truly is a dead ringer for an expensive champagne. It’s quite high in sugar, but a mimosa usually only pours about 3 oz, which is 7g per serving. The Brut is a perfect partner for tropical flavours, and it was really especially good with the guava juice and strawberries. This was the crowd favourite!
Fruit juice doesn’t have to be expensive
It’s really hard, time consuming and expensive to juice fresh tropical fruit. The cost to get a carafe of guava juice, for instance, would be astronomical. So I chose the 1L boxed juice from the grocery section and it’s fine - it doesn’t have to be completely fresh. I chose three styles of tropical fruit juice: passionfruit for it’s tangy bite, guava because it’s pink and juicy and mango juice for it’s rich and luscious flavour. The total cost for 3L of juice was $12.
Garnish and decor
I put out some berries as garnish, and the total cost of those were around $10 on sale. Pineapple was on sale for $3 so had to grab one, and I used that as decor and then cut it up later for Hawaiian pork shish kebabs. I splurged on two mangos which were going to be garnish, but they looked prettier as decor. The guava was a gift from a neighbour - total cost $0!
This was well worth the effort, as the tropical juices made it a really fun, and elevated experience for my guests. I’m always glad there are more and more options for non-alcoholic wines out there, but I’m also most thankful that St. Regis is available at my local grocery store AND on Amazon.ca for being able to create moments like this.
