Groove Is In The Art: A sophisticated non alcoholic beer-based cocktail

Beergroni Gruvi Juicy IPA

It’s sometimes tricky to make a custom cocktail into a non alcoholic version but in this case, the recent A Rousing Performance cocktail from Taste & Tipple was the perfect drink to try to make zero-proof.

A friend called this a beergroni, but Yvette, the founder and content director at Taste & Tipple says it’s more similar to an Americano. An Americano is essentially equal parts Campari or other Italian bitter plus sweet vermouth and soda. In this case, the beer contributes some of the bitter flavours and the bubbles that you need to make this cocktail.

We’re using Gruvi Juicy IPA as it’s a perfect match for the grapefruit juice, and creates an incredible concoction.

What you need:
1 oz Lyre’s Italian Spritz (or another Aperol-style zero proof aperitif)
1 oz freshly squeezed grapefruit juice
1.5 oz Non Alcoholic Sweet Vermouth (Roots Divino or Lyres are two options)
1 can of Gruvi Juicy IPA (or other fruit-forward IPA)

Note: Make SURE your highball or Collins glass is chilled before you start.

Shake the first three ingredients with some ice for about 10 seconds and strain into the chilled glass. You don’t need to include ice, as it waters down the cocktail. Top with Gruvi Juicy IPA.

A lovely and low cal cocktail for a sunny summer afternoon…. or in fact… anytime! Thank you Taste & Tipple for this delicious drybation!

What do you get when you mix non alcoholic beer and a negroni? An alcohol-free beer negroni cocktail, that's what!

Ingredients

  • 1 oz Lyre’s Italian Spritz (or another Aperol-style zero proof aperitif)
  • 1 oz freshly squeezed grapefruit juice
  • 1.5 oz Non Alcoholic Sweet Vermouth (Roots Divino or Lyres are two options)
  • 1 can of Gruvi Juicy IPA, pre-chilled (or other fruit-forward IPA)

Instructions

  1. In a cocktail shaker, shake the first three ingredients with some ice for about 10 seconds.
  2. Strain into a chilled highball or Collins glass. You don't need to add ice to the glass before you strain it, as it waters down the cocktail. Make sure the glass has been pre-chilled.
  3. Top with Gruvi Juicy IPA.

Notes

Make SURE your highball or Collins glass is chilled before you start.
