Dry January: Zero Proof Whiskey Two Ways
/Whiskey is a supple spirit that works in so many different types of cocktails, and non alcoholic zero proof whiskey is just the same. You can make something simple or something complex and it always tastes great. For Dry January, the goal is to make it easy so here is whiskey two ways - one super simple and one slightly a bit more work.
Whiskey Ginger Highball
A highball is any drink that has a small amount of spirit topped with a mixer. Nothing gets easier than this drink!
2.5 oz of Lyre’s American Malt at the bottom of a glass with ice and then top up with ginger ale. You can use Canada Dry or a more premium brand, but it tastes great either way!
Jane Collins
You may have heard of a Tom Collins but have you heard of a John Collins? This is basically a whiskey sour with club soda, a perfect drink for a Sunday afternoon. And now that you've started to level-up your mixology game, it's time to try another stirred classic. You can make your own simple syrup or you can buy store-bought.
Level of difficulty
Easy
When to serve
5 o’clock drinks, Saturday dinner party
Ingredients
3 oz Lyre's Spirits Co American Malt
1/2 oz. maple syrup (or to taste)
1 oz lemon juice
club soda
Directions
Add the first three ingredients to a glass with ice and give it a gentle stir to combine.
Top with club soda and garnish with a lemon
*Usually you need to shake any cocktail with citrus in it, to keep the drink from separating. In this case the chemistry of the club soda helps keep it all together.
