Daphne is a luxurious Bay Street watering hole, with a cozy and luxe vibe for a discreet tete-a-tete or legit date night. Their food is mouthwatering and their drinks list is lengthy, with a few good non-alcoholic options.

    Must Try Mocktails

Daphne carries Leitz Eins Zwei Zero non-alcoholic sparkling wine, which is one of the biggest reasons to make this your date night destination. You have to buy it by the bottle, but it’s worth it to have this premium bottle corked just for you. It’s a total luxury for a non-drinker to have a bottle like this with dinner. For pre-dinner drinks, Daphne carries Ceder’s Non Alcoholic spirits (Crisp and Rose), and while they have two mocktails on the menu, you can ask for any gin cocktail you want and sub-in some Ceder’s. We suggest something with cucumber for the Crisp!

The mocktail and non-alcoholic drinks list at the Drake is a surprise. Although they don’t use the best quality non-alcoholic spirits for their mocktails, they do have a gin cocktail with Lumette, a spritz with Martini Vibrante aperitif and offer locally-brewed Bellwoods non-alcoholic beer and Barbet non-alcoholic sparkling water. On our last visit to the Lobby Bar, the bartender pulled out a bottle of HP Spiced Rum from his own stash and made us a mind-blowing mocktail served up in vintage glassware (also from his own collection) - so definitely ask for Jeremy at the Lobby Bar.

    Vela

Address: 90 Portland St, Toronto, ON M5V 2N2
    Social: @velatoronto

Vela Toronto is luxe, upscale and expensive - a beautifully crafted space that Nuvo Magazine calls New American Opulence. This is definitely your zero bar destination to impress for a hot date night, so you can revel in the mouthwatering menu and sip sip on some amazing non-alcoholic cocktails.

    Must Try Mocktails

Thankfully, Vela carries Oddbird Spumante by the glass, so this is definitely where you and your girls should head for a glass of wine sans hangover. Although the menu says they carry Lyre’s spirits, it turns out they didn’t have it in stock. Despite the lack of Lyre’s, it wasn’t a bad mocktail made with in-house syrups and juice. We discovered they had various random bottles of n/a tequila hidden away, and had an impromptu tasting. Tip: You might have to do a little work to find out what’s available, and then order your own cocktail.

Although Famous Last Words also relies heavily on Seedlip rather than better n/a spirits, they do make several great non-alcoholic cocktails and aren't afraid to highlight them on their menu. Their Lightning Thief mocktail (Percy Jackson, anyone??) is the most promising with pear, lemon, honey and thyme elevated with walnut bitters, They don’t offer any n/a wine but they do have one Partake style on their beer menu. Conclusion and Further Exploration

As you can see, while there may not be a true zero bar in Toronto, finding an elevated mocktail in the city is fairly easy if you know where to look. Our list covers options for everyone from 5-star fine dining to pub and comfort food spots. If you’re looking for a place to enjoy a non-alcoholic drink with or without food, there are so many ideas.

The downside to all of these places is they don’t carry good non-alcoholic beer or good non-alcoholic wine (with the exception of the Proxies at Henrietta Lane). We still have a long ways to go before bars and restaurants include these in your menu, so you’ll have to make do with non-alcoholic cocktails for now.

If none of the above restaurants tickle your fancy, don’t worry, because finding a good mocktail in Toronto is all about exploring your options. Ask the bartender to get creative and make something elevated and non-alcoholic for you. Try out new restaurants and make sure you ask your server what non-alcoholic drinks they have, if you don’t see it on the menu.

Tag us on instagram if you’re having a mocktail and it’s something you want to share. We’d love to know where you’re finding mocktails in our city!
