Mother’s Day Gift guide
7 Gifts for the Mom In Your Life (instead of booze)
By: Blair Sharp
Mother’s Day is on May 9th, which is right around the corner…are you ready?
We know you celebrate them every day, but this one day is especially important. Moms are overworked, and sometimes getting paid in hugs and kisses doesn’t cut it.
Not only are they dealing with A LOT, but moms today are fed messages that alcohol is the fix for everything. This is far from the truth, and many moms are starting to figure it out. Whether she’s sober or not, think about switching gears this year. Re-think your gift...get her something that doesn’t involve alcohol.
Here’s our list of seven gifts for that well-deserving mom in your life instead of booze.
Audible Subscription
Moms are busy. It can be hard for them to find time to themselves, and even harder to find time to read a book. Audible allows them to listen on the go. She can choose from over 11,000+ different titles, and you can choose several different payment options.
Some of our favorite Quit-Lit books on Audible are:
This Naked Mind by Annie Grace
We Are The Luckiest by Laura McKowen
Quit Like A Woman by Holly Whitaker
Drinking: A Love Story by Caroline Knapp
Dry: A Memoir by Augusten Burroughs
Journal + Pens
A lot is going through our heads (drinking or not) so give the mom in your life a place to put her thoughts! Make it even more fun with colored pens, markers, and stickers.
Our Pick: Decidedly Dry Journal
Spa Gift Set
Moms work hard and they all deserve some #selfcare! Show her you recognize that she’s overdue for some me-time and get her a spa gift card or gift set.
Our ideas are:
Bath Bombs or bath salts
Candles
Lotions and creams
Facial-roller
A new bathrobe
Tea + Mug
For the tea loving mom, this gift is great! Give her some tea to choose from, and a new place to put her warm beverage. Our choice: Tazo Tea Sampler Pack and Sober Powered Mug
Candy + NA Beverages
Has she recently quit drinking? It’s common to crave sugar after removing the alcohol from your life. For some, these cravings don’t end after a few months. Pick out some of her favorite sugary treats and be sure to include some NA beverages to replace the booze.
Some of our favorite NA beverage brands are:
Day or Night to Herself
There is a theme here...moms everywhere are dying to get some time alone. If you can, tell her you’ll watch the kids for the day. Add a gift card for lunch or dinner. Make an appointment for her to get her nails done or to get a relaxing massage. If she’s not into that, just let her do her thing...alone!
SOBER SWAG!
Does she celebrate her alcohol-free lifestyle on the regular? Help her show it off! We’ve got a few suggestions from our favorite sober-creators

When planning this Mother’s Day, don’t forget the moms-to-be. Another thing to remember, some women are struggling to be a mom right now. If you have one of those in your life, be mindful. Show them that you care by doing something special for them on Mother’s Day. It could be a very triggering day for them in many ways!
