One of the fastest growing alcohol-free brands in the world is Lyre’s, an Australian company that offers more than a dozen premium zero-proof spirits from Rum to Gin. Until now it wasn’t available to Canadians who are rethinking drinking, but that’s changing with the launch of new alcohol-free marketplace Rival House. Founder David Pierson scored a huge coup as the first to bring it into Canada and as expected, the popular bottles sold out almost overnight.

The consumption of alcohol-free drinks is expected to grow almost 400% over the next four years, so it’s not a surprise that there are many new online alcohol-free marketplaces launching across Canada and the U.S. Rival House is the newest addition for Canadians, and already their inventory promises to deliver a premium experience.

“We wanted to find good alcohol-free premium products that would elevate the experience for anyone who might not be drinking, for whatever reason,” said Pierson. "We don’t think it has to be one or the other - you should be able to enjoy a nonalcoholic drink the same as an alcoholic one.”

Pierson’s parents initially piqued his curiosity about alcohol-free drinks when they gave up drinking for health reasons.

“Watching them navigate this life change showed me there’s a need for widely accessible alcohol-free drink options. Nondrinkers and people cutting back on alcohol still go out for dinner and go to events, and they want to have elevated choices. This is the foundation of Rival House - providing the best possible options for our customers,” he explained.

Their cornerstone product is a line of premium wines under the Win brand. Sourced in Spain, Pierson promises that these products are a step above some of the commercially available alcohol-free wines.

“Our customers have been giving us great feedback that it tastes very close to the real thing,” said Pierson.

Over the past year, Pierson and team faced a number of challenges before launch, such as figuring out how to ship liquids over the winter across Canada in an environmentally sustainable way.

“Our priority is getting products to our customers safely, sustainably and on time,” he explained. “We’re happy to have figured out how to do that.”

Another big coup for Rival House is the upcoming addition of the Free Spirit brand, including their alcohol-free tequila. Free Spirit is another fast growing brand south of the border that U.S. customers already have access to. It will be the first alcohol-free tequila available in a Canadian marketplace.

If you’re ordering on Rival House, they have free shipping across Canada for orders over $49, and free same day delivery in the GTA for orders over $49. Our Some Good Clean Fun recommendations are to try the Win Tempranillo Oak Barrel aged Tempranillo, Brewdog Nanny State beer and when they’re back in stock make sure you grab some American Malt or Dark Cane Spirit from Lyre’s.
